An Introduction to Office Tables
Office tables are major pieces of furniture in any business venture. These rectangular surfaces serve many purposes. They could provide working space for writing, paperwork, or computers. They could be storage areas for files and inventory. They could be meeting venues for important discussions.
The Different Table Types
Given the many uses of office tables, there are also many designs and types. These have evolved throughout the years as business practices have evolved.
Conference room tables- These kinds of office tables are oversized for the purpose. Mostly seen in the conference rooms and boardrooms of large corporations, they are usually manufactured out of solid wood and built to impress. They are sturdy, with a flat tabletop, and sized for a large group of people and for formal meetings. There are also oval shaped conference tables, and glass or metal ones.
Reception room tables- Reception rooms, waiting rooms, or lobbies are what clients and guests see first. These spaces need to maintain a balance of formality and hospitality. They need to show the company’s style and statement. Reception room office tables could be a coffee table type or a side table type.
Utility tables-Stainless steel, wood, metal, laminate, folding, rolling, banquet; these are all utility table types. The utility table is a no-nonsense table. It exists without the frills and trimmings of, for instance, an executive table. These are storage and working tables. They are sturdy furniture that is oftentimes portable.
Computer tables-Tables for special equipment, computer office tables have been ergonomically adapted to be able to house the components of a computer: monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, printer, CPU, and cables. Some computer tables are used in classroom or office settings where a large number of people share a long table equipped with computers.
Meeting room tables- For meetings. These might not be as imposing as the conference table, but they are still very useful for group discussions and the like. Some of these meeting room office tables are foldable and portable.
Table desks-These are simple writing desks, with a wide tabletop and a single drawer in the middle portion of the table, under the table top. This is ideal for students, but can also be used as office tables.
